Summer Mission Trip 2012
Hello! And thanks for visiting our site. This summer, we are planning to travel to Port Henry, New York and work with a local church there on several different levels. Our group will consist of three primary teams with different, but equally important missions for the week. Our goal is, simply put, to spread the fame and glory of God and His son, Jesus Christ in the upstate region of New York. We have a big vision for what we would like to do, but we serve an even bigger God, who has always shown Himself to be able (and willing) to provide for those working for His kingdom.
- VBS Team – Our VBS team will be responsible for setting up and operating a Vacation Bible School/ Back Yard Bible Club type activity that will run from Monday-Friday the week of the mission trip. They will be coordinating with the church in this activity. This type of ministry, in case you are unfamiliar, is geared toward teaching children about the Bible and giving them a positive activity to do during the summer when school is out and most of their parents are still having to go to work every day.
- Community Outreach Team – This team will be coordinating with the church in order to effectively reach and help the underprivileged in the Port Henry area. This will be a big task, as this area has more impoverished people per capita than any town in New York. Ideally, they will work with food and clothing ministries, but also engaging in the lives of this people group and, hopefully, having opportunities to share with them the gospel message of Christ and showing them the transforming power that is held in having a relationship with Him.
- Music Team – The music team will be about the business of raising community awareness of the church. This will take on many forms; most of them musically based. They will be responsible for publically performing in several venues (everything from church, to coffee shop type environments, to public parks) in order to bear witness of the glory of God. They will also be doing things like passing out flyers and inviting people to church as well as general testimony and sharing the gospel with the public.
In conclusion, I want to say thank you for being interested in possibly helping us to achieve our goal. Our overall goal is set at $18,000. I know it sounds like a lot, but when it’s broken down, that is taking 30-40 people 1,500 miles from home for 9 days, feeding them, and giving them a place to sleep, plus monies needed to actually pull off this project for under $500 per person! Please use the PayPal DONATE Button at the top of the page to contribute, or if you are not technological, you can call me personally at (870)215-3788 or Eric Simpson at (501)605-7681 for more traditional donation opportunities. Any size donation will be equally valued and appreciated. May grace and peace be unto you.
