FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

You may find the answer to your question about Fellowship Baptist Church here.

WHY should I become a Christian and what must I do?

There are hundreds of reasons why you should give your life to Jesus, become a Christian, and follow Jesus. Three of the foremost are: this is your only way to heaven; only Jesus can give you the quality of life you want and need; Jesus can change you into being the person God meant for you to be. To become a Christian as simple as A - B - C.

A - Acknowledge or admit that you have sinned and are a sinner. Sin is failing to be or do as God intends. Because of man's nature, he chooses to do his own will and not God's. This makes him a sinner. Even one could change his nature and could quit sinning, he would still have to account for all his past. This separates him from God permanently and eternally.

B - Believe that Jesus is God's only Son, that He died on the cross in your behalf, that He was buried and rose from the grave. Believe that He did this so that you may be forgiven of your sins and so that you may have a relationship with God. This results in knowing God which is eternal life.

C - Commit your life to Jesus by confessing Him as your Lord and trusting Him as your savior. You should turn from sin and seek to follow Jesus in everything. Through prayer, ask God to forgive you and accepted Him in your life today.

For a summary of those beliefs, click on the "What We Believe" button on the main menu on the left. MEMBERSHIP - How do I join Fellowship Baptist Church?

At the conclusion of most services a song is sung during which anyone may approach the ministerial staff and express his desire to join. (If this presents a problem, contact the pastor.) FBC receives into membership those individuals who have received Jesus Christ as savior and follow Him as Lord and who share their commonly held beliefs. Individuals may join:

By profession of faith in Jesus and believer’s baptism.

If a person has accepted Jesus as their personal savior and therefore become born-again, they can announce to the church their faith in Christ and request Believer’s Baptism.

By believer’s baptism.

A person who has accepted Christ but never been baptized can join by requesting baptism.

Sometimes a person decides to join FBC from a church of another Christian denomination that does not practice baptism by immersion. In these cases, baptism is required to welcome a person into the fellowship of the church and to signify commitment, even though the individual may have been a Christian for a long time.

By Transfer of Membership

Persons who have become Christians and been baptized and are current members of another Baptist church can join FBC by asking our church office to transfer their membership (Sometimes refered to as "By Letter").

By Statement

A person who has been born again and baptized by immersion can join FBC by their statement of the faith. Sometimes, a person can’t remember the name of the church where their membership is recorded. Or, the church may have disbanded.

Since a transfer of membership from a non-Baptist church is not available, individuals who state their conversion to Christ and their baptism by immersion in another kind of church that is similar in belief to FBC can be received for membership without being baptized again. Candidates for membership under these conditions will want to visit with a ministerial staff member to discuss their circumstances.
